About Verina

Verina is currently studying piano performance as a DMA student at University of Utah's School of Music. She graduated with a bachelor's and master's in piano performance from Brigham Young University.

Verina Chen began piano lessons when she was eight with Dr. Irene Peery-Fox. Since she began, Verina has placed first in the Utah State Fair Competition twice, first in the MTNA Jr. Baldwin Piano Competition twice, first in the Encore Concerto Competition twice, and first in the METTA Ensemble Competition. 

She also received first prize alternate in the MTNA Jr. Baldwin Competition. She has soloed with the Utah Symphony four times, twice for their Annual Salute to Youth concert and twice as a guest artist in St. George, performing Chopin's Piano Concerto in F Minor and Liszt's Hungarian Fantasy. In addition to her solo performances in the Assembly Hall in Salt Lake City, Verina has performed Mozart's Piano Concerto in A Major, K. 488 with the Utah Valley and American Fork Symphonies. 

Verina received the American prize for piano performance in the high school division. Verina placed first in the college division of UMTA, a piano concerto competition. She soloed, playing Schumann's Introduction and Allegro Appassionato with the Utah Valley Symphony in their Salute to Youth Concert in October 2012. In addition to piano, Verina has studied viola for ten years.
 
Verina is a piano collaborator, teacher, and performer.
